With this high-level workshop,Promoting social innovation through public canteens“,  we advocate for transformative minimum standards in public canteens through the EU (see Manifesto). In particular, we call for the implementation of healthy school meals and food education for every child in every school in Europe (see Petition). The goal is to achieve more socially just and resilient food regions and communities.

With the upcoming legislative framework for Sustainable Food Systems (FSFS) and the revision of the EU school fruit, vegetables, milk and food education scheme, the EU has gathered momentum for change. This session will show the power of the public plate combined with social innovation as a way to improve the wellbeing of individuals and resilience of our communities.

Interpretation in English, French and Italian.

Moderator: Peter Defranceschi, Head of ICLEI Brussels Office & Global CityFood Program
